Given Kimbo is still considered an MMA newbie with only four official bouts under his belt, matchmaking will be the key to any success he may enjoy in the future. The problem is this brawler needs some relatively easy opponents to develop his confidence and skills, but the UFC is an organization that is supposed to promote only those fighters considered to be at the highest level. So how will they do it?
The best the UFC can do is to match Kimbo Slice against naturally smaller men and/or fighters who appear to be a bit on the downside of their careers, and Houston Alexander seems to fit the mode, being a natural light heavyweight and having lost his last three bouts promoted by the UFC. By no means should Alexander be considered a stepping stone, especially given Kimbo Slice has already been knocked out by a much smaller light heavyweight (Seth Petruzelli), but this type of matchmaking at least puts the man in a position to compete and possibly win.
